Immigrant Women’s Peer Support Program (IWPSP) - New Westminster

Program Description:
  • provides mental, physical and social support to immigrant and refugee women experiencing challenges during their integration process
  • trains newcomer women to become peer support group facilitators
  • supports graduates to go back into their communities and deliver 10-week peer support groups for other newcomer women facing difficulties adjusting to their new lives in Canada
Client Profile / Eligibility Criteria
  • candidates must have an immigrant and / or refugee background and a strong desire to help others and give back to their communities by assisting other immigrant and refugee women with their adjustment process
  • the successful candidates must be willing to make a strong commitment to the training and the facilitation of the peer support groups
