New immigrant and refugee women have a lot to offer to the businesses and workplaces of Burnaby and BC. However, cultural barriers and a lack of a professional network often keep women from fully integrating into local workforces and communities.

The Burnaby Intercultural Planning Table hosted four major events designed to bring newcomer women together with business leaders, settlement services workers and area residents. Participating women had the chance to gain important contacts, acquire new skills, share their experiences and learn about the valuable contributions of women in their communities.
The Profiles of a Welcoming and Inclusive Community recognized many Burnaby women working to develop Burnaby as more welcoming and inclusive.
