New immigrant communities are growing rapidly in Burnaby. But in order to enjoy the many benefits of an inclusive society, several cultural barriers must be overcome.
The Burnaby Intercultural Planning Table has tapped into the broad experience of its members to design, develop and implement six innovative projects to improve the integration of newcomers to Burnaby.
Our initiatives utilize communication campaigns and multimedia projects, community forums and surveys, anti-racism initiatives, workplace tours and workshops to build intercultural understanding and open new doors.

Among our successes, our employer forums help Burnaby employers better understand the barriers faced by new immigrant job seekers. And they help immigrants determine what skill sets they need to develop to compete in our local job market.
